The Joint Research Center Zeeland (JRCZ) in the Zeeland capital of Middelburg is a unique research institution. Students, researchers, businesses and the government work together here to find solutions to urgent, social issues in the South West Delta.
JRCZ is special on the one hand because Scalda (mbo), HZ University of Applied Sciences (hbo) and University College Roosevelt (wo) come together here, and on the other because the institution houses several highly advanced laboratories. There is an engineering lab, a chemistry lab, an ecology lab, a biobased building lab and a data science lab. All labs are equipped with the latest equipment and techniques.
The knowledge resulting from the research is applied in companies and (government) institutions and enriches education at Scalda, the HZ and UCR, the three partners of JRCZ.
Other knowledge institutions in the region, such as the Royal Netherlands Institution for Sea Research (NIOZ) and Wageningen Marine Research (WMR), companies and institutions can also use the state-of-the-art facilities at JRCZ.
