Creativity at the center of
maker spaces
The beating heart of each floor of the JRCZ is the makerspace. This is an open space where students, teachers and researchers meet.
In these rooms, they work together on real-life assignments. Here they get help from their subject teachers and the researchers working in the labs nearby. The makerspaces are buzzing with activity and creativity every day.
Makerspaces are a relatively new phenomenon in higher and academic education. Whereas in the beginning, makerspaces were mainly home to engineers, they are now places where students work in a multidisciplinary way to find solutions to complex, social challenges.
Research shows that makerspaces add a lot of value. Here, students can develop their talents to the full. The open nature creates unique collaborations between students, teachers and researchers who might otherwise not have had the opportunity to work together.
