Themes fitting the DNA of
Zeeland
JRCZ will carry out research on four themes that fit the DNA of the South-West Delta: water, energy, food and the biobased economy.
Students from Scalda (mbo), HZ University of Applied Sciences (hbo) and University College Roosevelt (wo) work together in the labs to find solutions to urgent issues on these topics. This is important for a sustainable South West Delta and thus for delta regions worldwide. Governments, entrepreneurs and organisations contribute the issues.
On the four themes, there are many challenges, such as increasing salinisation, the lack of fresh water, the protein transition and the switch to renewable energy. These are all major events. They will require many new professionals in the coming decades. We need researchers who understand the scale of these transitions, are willing and able to cooperate with each other and the field, and can communicate well about their research.
JRCZ offers the right (research) opportunities for this. There are facilities for both practical and fundamental research.
